At Newbury Soup Kitchen, we are here to support you with freshly prepared hot meals and a safe, welcoming space. Every Wednesday evening, we serve a fresh soup and hot fresh cooked meal for people experiencing homelessness, vulnerably housed and those in need within Newbury and West Berkshire.
Behind the scenes, our team of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to prepare meals each week, ensuring everyone receives a hearty and nutritious dinner.
But we offer more than just food. Our sessions are designed to care for the whole person—physically, emotionally, and socially.
Here’s What You Can Expect:
- A Hot Meal and More: Enjoy a warm, freshly cooked meal in a relaxed environment. Inside, there’s space to sit, chat, play a game of chess or cards, or read the papers.
- Outreach and Support: If you need help with housing, debt, health, or other issues, we can guide you to local authorities and services that can assist.
- Showers and Laundry: Access shower and laundry tokens through our partnership with the local Leisure Centre.
- Specialist Services: On Thursdays, the Samaritans are available for confidential chats, alongside support for drug and alcohol concerns, fuel debt advice, and health consultations with our Community Nurse.
- Emergency Essentials: We provide toiletries, Foodbank referrals, warm clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and emergency food packs when needed.
Our Mission:
We strive to create a space where everyone is treated with respect and kindness—a safe environment where you can feel valued and supported. Building trust and offering empathy is at the heart of what we do, helping to improve lives and empower individuals to make positive changes.
Looking Ahead:
We are committed to growing and opening a Community Support Centre in the heart of Newbury, where even more services and resources will be available.
For now, we’re here to help on your terms—providing not only food but also understanding, conversation, and care. Everyone is welcome.
💛 We’re here for you, and we’re glad you’re here with us.
