If you find yourself homeless or rough sleeping there is lots of information here to help you.

Below is advice on where to find support for shelter, food, outreach, addiction services and local charities that may be able to help including ours.

Sleeping rough?

Support for Anyone at Risk of Rough Sleeping

Anyone at risk of sleeping rough on the streets tonight should visit West Berkshire Council’s offices in Market Street, Newbury for support.

Office Opening Times

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9:30am – 12:30pm

  • Friday: 9:30am – 4:00pm

Where possible, contact should be made with the Housing Service via telephone: 01635 519530
(Office Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm)

Anyone who becomes homeless when the offices are closed should contact the Council’s Emergency Duty Team on 01344 351999.

People can also report concerns via StreetLink. StreetLink exists to help end rough sleeping by enabling members of the public to connect people sleeping rough with the local services that can support them.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Citizens Advice

The Citizens Advice service aims to provide the advice people need for the problems they face. The service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities.  A new ‘Help to Claim’ service is available now for those who need support to apply for Universal Credit.
