Many of the clients that come in have teeth issues. Dental care it seems is a luxury treatment for some. Sanctions stop the ability to get treatment and always there is a lot of form filling which some clients struggle with.
Considering the rain today we actually had quite a few people in tonight, 32 in total. Most of our regular clients are choosing not to come in now they are in accommodation however a few still are they enjoy the social side and also helping us too. Eventually, some may become mentors or volunteers. Jan[...]
It was a quieter night tonight with 32 people in total through the door. Jan had cooked Lasagne, I think it is the most popular other than the Wagyu burgers. Most people had two helpings. It was nice to see Jan able to come out of the kitchen for a bit and sit with some[...]
Very busy evening (37 in total) especially when you consider that some of our regulars did not come in now they are in housing. Some still do and they enjoy the social side and the continued support we give. A few new faces and some we have not seen for a while. Lack Of Medical[...]

This evening people were banging on the door at 6pm desperate to come in as it was so cold outside. We had 34 people in total so a quieter night, though the benefits are that there is plenty of time to sit down and listen to people. The night shelter is closing imminently and that is causing[...]
A good session this evening. We have more people finding jobs locally which is fantastic. We had turkey, leek and mushroom pie (one of the turkeys donated to us Christmas Eve from Aldi). It went down a storm. We are committed to working with donated food so some weeks it will be interesting to see what we come up with.
Thorngrove school arrived this evening with a big cheque for £660. Their head boy and head girl from year 8 came too with lots of donations of toiletries, sleeping bags etc. The headmaster Adam said that hearing about the Soup Kitchen has really inspired the parents and children alike.
